The Kuta Beach of Lombok


Kuta Beach in Lombok is unrelated to the Balinese namesake and although it is usually the place that most surfers choose to stay, it is nothing like the often crowded Kuta beach in Bali. Kuta beach is a long stretch of brilliant white sands that like many of the Beaches on the south coast of Lombok is phenomenally beautiful and straight out of a tropical dream. Kuta beach in Lombok is the tourist center of Lombok and is the friendliest place to stay with the most luxury accommodation and well as numerous budget homestays. Kuta beach in Lombok is also the area with the most tourist facilities and activities on offer in Lombok although it has not yet reached a level anything like the Kuta area in Bali. Kuta beach Lombok remains quiet and tranquil with some awesome restaurants and incredible scenery where with the slightest walk in any direction leading you into true tropical paradise. The beaches are white with crystal clear water that is flat and calm and protected by offshore reefs that provide fun for the surfers and a variety of waterborne activities for everyone else that can be conducted in the lagoons of warm tropical waters. Kuta beach can also be spelt Kute beach or Pantai Kute in case of confusion and here you will find some marvelous rocky outcrops and cliffs that separate the beaches and wonderful hills that are laced with tropical woodlands where some of the luxury villas are situated with breathtaking views.

The surf in the south of Lombok need not be discussed in this article other to say that there are a number of breaks nearby, some are suited to beginners although most are for the experienced only, however Kuta is only the base for surfers, to reach the spots a small road or boat journey is in order. The most popular way to reach the different spots is by a motorbike that is similar to scooter, easy to drive and has a very effective surfboard rack attached. It is also possible to hire a surfboard or boogie board although most people choose to bring their own as often the rent boards are in very bad condition, this being said it is still possible to seek out a good one if you know what your looking for or if not, if employ the help of some who does.

Reaching Kuta is not difficult although the road leading to it can be poorly maintained in places. You can go by taxi or the cheaper shuttle bus option as well as the local bemos that are slower, a little less comfortable but are the cheapest and most culturally connected method to use. If you are staying at a hotel or villa or even some of the better budget places, often a private pick up transfer service is offered, sometimes this can be included in the price of the ticket and is always air-conditioned will escort you right to your hotel or villa.
